Watch-Draw-Read-GASP!

I put together a packet for you to download featuring my How To Draw the Grinch handout, links to the animated movie, and read aloud for the book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and my augmented reality code to view the cover of the book transforming from the original illustration to the animated version.

I set up the packet to be emailed to you as soon as you fill out this simple form to subscribe to my newsletter

How I used this packet in my classroom

During the week before the winter break, I set my art room up for a grinch festival. This is where we drew, watched, played with augmented reality, entered the book cover with our Grinch photo booth using the green screen app by do ink.

We even tried a sing-a-long to the You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch song. Ha, next time I need to print the lyrics. We were just mumbling a lot.

BONUS! Want to create a GRINCH Photo Booth?

We set up a green screen photo booth during our grinch fest where students were able to get a photo taken that put them on the cover of the How the Grinch Stole Christmas Book. I masked out the grinch illustration and created a blank cover with directions so they could go through the steps independently. SEE OUR GRINCH FEST PHOTO BOOTH IN ACTION. WE USED A MONITOR TO SHOW STUDENTS WHO WHERE WAITING FOR A TURN WHAT THE LIVE CAMERA FEED FROM THE IPAD LOOKED LIKE. THIS KEPT THEM ENGAGED AND HELPED THEM UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS BY WATCHING OTHERS GO THROUGH THE STEPS. I LOVED HOW STUDENTS OF ALL AGES COULD READ THE DIRECTIONS AND HELP EACH OTHER FOLLOW THEM. WHICH MEANT I DIDN'T HAVE TO RUN THE BOOTH!
